# Someone used an ESP32 to capture light travelling at 10 billion frames per second

**[XDA Developers](https://daily.dev/sources/xda-developers)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A maker used an ESP32 microcontroller to create a 10 billion frames-per-second slow-motion video of a laser pulse traveling across a room. The trick: the ESP32 captures a single pixel per laser pulse at a specific moment in time, then accumulates many sequential pixels across many pulses. Since the laser and speed of light are consistent and repeatable, stitching these pixels together reconstructs a continuous ultra-slow-motion video — no exotic high-speed camera required.
