SpaceX has agreed to acquire AI coding startup Cursor in a $60 billion all-stock deal, just days after SpaceX's IPO. The acquisition is intended to bolster SpaceX's AI division, which was built around Elon Musk's xAI after a merger earlier this year. SpaceX's AI division has faced controversies including generating non-consensual deepfakes. Prior to the deal, Cursor was in talks to close a $2 billion funding round at a $50 billion valuation from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive, and Nvidia. The deal is expected to close in Q3, with a $10 billion break-up fee if it falls through.
