Speaking in affirmatives rather than negatives reduces cognitive load for recipients and improves clarity. Instead of saying 'Don't do X,' reframe as 'Do Y' so the listener can immediately visualize the desired action. This applies to giving feedback, making requests, and stating your own availability. When negatives are unavoidable, always follow them with the positive alternative to fill the void and guide the recipient toward the right behavior. Affirmative phrasing also projects confidence rather than apology.
