StarkWare has published a three-phase roadmap to make Starknet quantum-resistant by replacing remaining elliptic-curve cryptography with post-quantum alternatives. Phase One replaces Pedersen hashing with BLAKE2 for state commitments and addresses. Phase Two introduces migration tooling for existing smart contracts. Phase Three addresses external dependencies like Ethereum bridge infrastructure. StarkWare argues its STARK-based proving layer is already post-quantum safe due to its hash-based design, and calls on the broader crypto industry to act before quantum threats become urgent, coining the term 'elliptical illusion' to describe complacency around elliptic-curve security.
