The FBI's Seattle division is investigating multiple Steam games found to contain malware designed to drain cryptocurrency wallets and hijack user accounts. All infected titles are suspected to be the work of a single threat actor operating between 2024 and 2026. Valve has been notifying affected users and repeatedly removing the games, but the volume of new releases continues to allow malicious actors to slip through. Victims may be eligible for restitution under federal law by submitting a form on fbi.gov.
