# Stewart Platform Walker Gains Feeling In Legs From Resistors

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Stewy is a hexapod walking robot built around a Stewart platform head, where the same servos drive both the platform and the legs. To give the robot tactile feedback for navigating uneven terrain, the builder added a simple current-sensing trick: a resistor in series with each servo motor. By measuring the voltage drop across the resistor, the microcontroller can infer motor torque via Ohm's law, providing surprisingly useful force data with minimal added complexity. The approach works well once servo speed is reduced slightly.
