# Substack’s new tool tells you who’s been writing their newsletters with AI

**[TechCrunch](https://daily.dev/sources/tc)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Substack has integrated Pangram's AI writing detection software into its platform, allowing readers to see an estimate of how much of any newsletter post, comment, or reply was written by AI versus a human. The feature works on content above 100 characters and is available in Substack's app. Rather than penalizing AI-assisted writing, the goal is transparency — writers can add an optional AI Author's note disclosing their process, and publishers can run Pangram on their own drafts before publishing. Substack CEO Chris Best framed it as encouraging writers to do 'the hard part' themselves while software handles the rest. The move follows a broader trend of platforms labeling AI-generated content, including YouTube, TikTok, Spotify, and Tidal.
