In the 1960s, experts thought that we would have flying cars by 1980, and they thought computers would be small enough to only occupy a single room by the year 2000, based on their trajectories. Instead we have had near zero innovation with cars since the 60s, but computers have become about a million times faster and smaller than predicted.
