Key highlights of 8.0 include dropping 13,202 lines of deprecated code, requiring PHP 8.4 (enabling native lazy objects and the native HTML5 parser), removing XML and fluent PHP config formats in favor of YAML and array-shape PHP configs, invokable console commands with attribute-based binding, and four new stable components (JsonStreamer, JsonPath, ObjectMapper, TypeInfo). Teams still on 8.0 should upgrade to Symfony 8.1 (maintained until January 2027) or move to Symfony 7.4 LTS (security fixes until November 2029).
