Tails 7.8.1 is an emergency release addressing a serious Linux kernel vulnerability (CVE-2026-43503) that could allow privilege escalation to full system control, potentially enabling deanonymization. The Tor client is also updated to 0.4.9.9 to fix several security vulnerabilities. Automatic upgrades are available from Tails 7.0 or later.
