Tailscale Peer Relays are now generally available, offering customer-deployed, high-throughput relay nodes that run on any Tailscale device. Key improvements since beta include better throughput via lock contention fixes and multi-UDP-socket distribution, static endpoint support for restrictive cloud environments (e.g., behind AWS Network Load Balancers), and deeper observability through tailscale ping integration and Prometheus-compatible metrics. Peer Relays can replace subnet routers in some setups, enabling full-mesh deployments with features like Tailscale SSH and MagicDNS. Available on all plans including the free tier.
