Taiwanese prosecutors have detained three individuals, including a Super Micro senior vice president, on suspicion of smuggling US-restricted Nvidia AI chips to mainland China via Japan as a transshipment point. This marks Taiwan's first public criminal prosecution for AI-chip diversion. The suspects allegedly falsified export documents to disguise servers as Japan-bound, before re-routing them to China.
