**[Web Digest](https://daily.dev/sources/webdev_digest)** · 5 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

TanStack Table V9 is stable after two-plus years of development, bringing tree-shakable plugins, signal-based reactivity, and dramatic performance gains — up to 86% less retained heap in million-row cases. npm staged publishing is now generally available, adding a human approval gate before packages go live. VS Code 1.132 shipped with built-in Nemotron 3.5 dictation and a new parallel chat command. Hono v4.13.0 delivers up to 1.25x faster JSON routes and first-class HTTP QUERY method support.

## TanStack Table V9 stable: tree-shaking, signal reactivity, 86% heap reduction

TanStack Table V9 is out after two-plus years in development. The biggest architectural change is a tree-shakable plugin system via tableFeatures() — unused features like filtering, pagination, and grouping no longer ship in your bundle. State management moves to TanStack Store with fine-grained reactivity, which lets signal-based frameworks wire in more directly. Performance numbers are significant: up to 86% less retained JavaScript heap (2.71 GB down to ~380 MB in million-row tests), 79% faster core row model processing, 52% faster grouping, 37% faster sorting, 34% faster filtering. New capabilities include Cell Selection with rectangular ranges and drag support, plus Cell Spanning across rows and columns. Package size grew from 14kb to 25kb, but individual app bundles should shrink due to tree-shaking. Ten framework adapters ship with V9. ## npm staged publishing now GA: human approval gate before packages go live

npm staged publishing is generally available, requiring npm CLI 11.15.0+ and Node 22.14.0+. Instead of immediate publishing, a tarball lands in a stage queue visible on npmjs.com and the CLI, and a maintainer must pass a 2FA challenge to approve or reject it. CI pipelines are unaffected since staging works without 2FA. New permission flags (--allow-file, --allow-remote, --allow-directory) are also included. GitHub recommends pairing this with trusted publishing over OIDC. Community reaction is split — some see it as a real defense against supply chain attacks, others think it only works if maintainers actually adopt it. pnpm 11.3 and Yarn already have equivalent stage subcommands. ## VS Code 1.132: Nemotron 3.5 dictation, /btw parallel chat, element-level browser annotations

VS Code 1.132 ships built-in dictation using the Nemotron 3.5 on-device model by default, handling multiple languages across chat inputs, editors, and terminals with shell-aware cleanup for terminal commands. A new /btw command opens a parallel chat session that shares context with the main chat without interrupting an ongoing agent turn. The integrated browser now supports element-level annotations, so you can point the agent at specific page elements rather than describing layout issues in text. The agent host — a dedicated process running Copilot, Claude, and Codex via the Agent Host Protocol — now lets you connect to the same session from multiple VS Code windows. ## Hono v4.13.0: 1.25x faster JSON routes, HTTP QUERY method, fail-fast RegExpRouter

Hono v4.13.0 squeezes up to 1.25x faster performance on JSON routes through low-level changes: skipping unnecessary Headers allocations, replacing regex with indexOf, and lazy state allocation. The release adds first-class support for the HTTP QUERY method (RFC 10008) via app.query(), with Cache, ETag, and CORS middleware all updated to handle it. The RegExpRouter now throws UnsupportedPathError at route registration time rather than at runtime, so misconfigured routes fail fast. A new Method Not Allowed middleware returns proper 405 responses with Allow headers. React 19-aligned useRef types and Compress middleware now setting Vary: Accept-Encoding round out the release. - **Next.js 16.3 navigation 3.5x faster in v0 via agent-driven test loop:** Next.js 16.3 cut navigation time in v0 by approximately 3.5x using an automated agent loop that wrote failing instant() tests for slow navigations and iterated until they passed. - **State of CSS 2026: 4,902 respondents, Anchor Positioning tops wanted features, most still write CSS manually:** The State of CSS 2026 survey (4,902 developers, May–June 2026) found Anchor Positioning is both the favorite new feature and the most-wanted feature blocked by limited browser support, and most respondents still write CSS by hand, citing poor AI output quality for CSS. - **GitHub Code Quality no longer auto-adds Copilot as a PR reviewer:** GitHub reversed the behavior introduced on July 20, 2026 — enabling Code Quality no longer creates a ruleset that auto-requests Copilot reviews, and the three auto-enabled settings have been disabled on repositories where the ruleset already existed.
