Both members of the Scattered Spider hacking collective, they gained access to TfL systems by social engineering a help desk worker into resetting an employee's password. The 16-hour attack — live streamed online — compromised the personal data of up to 10 million customers, rendered 148 technology systems inoperable, and cost TfL £29m. Jubair has 22 prior hacking convictions and is also wanted in the US over $115m in ransoms. Both were found with contraband phones in prison, still coordinating future attacks.
