HashiCorp has announced the general availability of the Terraform MCP Server, an open-source Model Context Protocol server that lets AI agents integrate with Terraform Registry APIs. It enables AI assistants like Cursor, Claude, and Gemini to handle routine infrastructure tasks such as searching documentation, interpreting plan files, auditing configurations, and querying workspace states in natural language. The server enforces existing Terraform authentication and authorization, supports CORS policies, rate limiting, and OpenTelemetry integration, and can be deployed locally or as a shared service for teams.
