Using OpenChoreo (a CNCF Sandbox project) as a reference, the post explores three AI integration models: built-in agents (FinOps, SRE, Portal Assistant) running inside the platform with proper identity and secrets management; external agents connecting via MCP servers so developers can query platform resources without leaving their tools; and AI-assisted platform engineering to extend and evolve the platform faster. The key argument is that AI doesn't replace the platform or its governance — it changes the interface.
