Linux Mint has announced that Wayland support in the Cinnamon desktop environment is exiting experimental status. The next major version of Cinnamon will fully support both Wayland and X11, giving users a stable choice between the two display protocols. X11 is not being removed, and users can switch between sessions at the login screen. The stable Wayland release is expected around Christmastime, with the experimental version remaining until then.
