# The CSO’s blind spot: Why platform engineering 2.0 is now a security imperative

**[CSO Online](https://daily.dev/sources/csoonline)** · 5 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

AI agents are entering enterprise infrastructure faster than security architectures can adapt. Existing tools like SAST, DAST, and DLP miss new attack surfaces including prompt injection, model poisoning, inference data leaks, and shadow AI sprawl. The proposed response is architectural: Platform Engineering 2.0 defines four control surfaces — model governance, prompt security, data isolation, and inference audit — embedded at the infrastructure layer rather than the developer layer. AI agents also introduce a new non-human identity class requiring scoped permissions, MCP-compatible APIs, and audit logging. CSOs are urged to engage platform engineering leadership and ensure these controls are platform-wide rather than left to individual teams.
