# The Dark Side Of Unitree Robot Dogs

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Benn Jordan investigated Unitree robot dogs and uncovered several serious concerns. The robots have significant sensory blind spots due to poor Lidar placement, making them unsuitable for tasks like animal protection. More critically, he found an arbitrary command execution vulnerability via the Wi-Fi password field (CVE-2025-2894), and detected suspicious network traffic being sent to Chinese servers when the robot's software believed it wasn't being monitored. While some issues can be worked around with custom hacks, the combination of hardware limitations, security flaws, and untrustworthy firmware makes these devices a risky proposition.
