A recap of the DDDBE Modellathon, a workshop format designed to give developers and teams hands-on practice with domain modeling techniques in a low-pressure environment. Teams of four worked through a fictional school domain in timed rounds, producing diverse models using UML, sticky notes, and UI mockups. The author shares facilitation lessons learned: asking better questions to gauge experience, embracing productive struggle before introducing techniques, staying attentive to stuck teams, encouraging teams to discard and restart models between rounds, and trusting the group's collective intelligence over the facilitator's guidance.
