Salesforce has released a generally available MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Marketing Cloud Engagement (MCE). The MCE MCP Server is a hosted, enterprise-grade interface that exposes Marketing Cloud capabilities — including data extensions, journeys, and automations — as natural language tools callable by any MCP-compatible AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, etc.). Setup involves installing a package to get an MCP URL, then authenticating via OAuth from within the agent. Use cases include creating data extensions from plain English descriptions, building email journeys conversationally, adding Einstein Send Time Optimization, and propagating schema changes across dependent data structures. Permissions are scoped through installed packages combined with user permissions, and destructive operations are annotated but not blocked. The server is planned to expand coverage to additional Marketing Cloud APIs over time.
