Enterprise Architecture is undergoing a fundamental identity shift. The traditional EA role — defined by standards ownership, large diagrams, and governance checkpoints — no longer fits modern enterprises running on cloud platforms, product operating models, and AI-accelerated experimentation. The modern Enterprise Architect must move from artifact production to decision enablement, from authority to influence, and from technical depth to strategic communication, financial fluency, and systems thinking. Success is measured not by frameworks adopted or review boards chaired, but by whether better decisions are being made and whether the enterprise is more adaptable as a result.
