Shopify has made the shopify-account web component a mandatory requirement for all new and updated themes submitted to the Shopify Theme Store. The component enables passwordless sign-in, Sign in with Shop, and social sign-in directly on storefronts, and must be visible in the header on both desktop and mobile. Simultaneously, legacy customer accounts have been deprecated, removing the requirement for legacy account template files in themes.
