# The Very Exciting Cache Aware Scheduling Looks Like It Will Land For Linux 7.2

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 2 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Cache Aware Scheduling (CONFIG_SCHED_CACHE) is set to land in Linux 7.2 after more than a year of development led by Intel engineers. The feature improves performance on modern CPUs with multiple last-level caches by colocating tasks that share data within the same LLC domain, reducing cache misses and bouncing. It has shown significant gains on AMD EPYC and Intel Xeon 6 server-class processors. The code has been merged into the TIP sched/core branch, making it likely to be submitted during the Linux 7.2 merge window in mid-June. A runtime toggle via DebugFS will allow users to enable or disable the feature for debugging and performance comparisons.
