The Virtual OS Museum is a downloadable Linux VM containing over 1,700 pre-installed operating systems spanning from 1948 to the present day, all pre-configured and ready to run under QEMU, VirtualBox, or UTM. A custom launcher handles one-click startup, snapshots for reverting broken installs, and automatic updates. The collection covers mainframes, minicomputers, Unix variants, home computers, personal OS history, mobile/embedded systems, and obscure research OSes — from the Manchester Baby to early Android. The project is the result of 20+ years of collecting by a single developer, aimed at making computing history genuinely accessible rather than theoretically runnable.
