Instead of jumping to recommendations, it prompts Claude to ask discovery questions, challenge assumptions, reason through tradeoffs, and consider operability, security, cost, and ownership. It covers cloud architecture, Kubernetes, platform engineering, software architecture, AWS/Azure/GCP, and serverless/container/PaaS/IaaS patterns, producing artefacts like design docs, diagrams, cost models, and implementation plans. ## Content I’ve been using Claude more for architecture work, but generic AI output is still too inconsistent for serious cloud, platform or Kubernetes decisions. Too often it jumps straight to recommendations before understanding the constraints. So I built **Theorycraft**: a set of Claude Skills for architecture theorycrafting. It’s designed to make Claude behave more like a structured architecture partner: - ask discovery questions before recommending - challenge assumptions - reason through tradeoffs - consider operability, security, cost and ownership - produce useful artefacts like design docs, diagrams, cost models and implementation plans It includes skills for: - cloud architecture - Kubernetes - platform engineering - software architecture - AWS, Azure and GCP - serverless, containers, PaaS and IaaS patterns I built it for my own use because I was tired of re-prompting Claude every time I wanted it to think properly about architecture decisions. It’s been useful enough that I’ve open-sourced it.
