# TinyGo 0.44 - Smaller, Faster, Better

**[Awesome Go](https://daily.dev/sources/awego)** · 5 min read · 15 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

TinyGo 0.44 ships smaller, faster binaries and broader hardware support, just weeks after version 0.43. The interp package now runs more initialization at compile time, shrinking RAM use and startup time. The compiler skips unnecessary slice bounds checks and avoids extra byte slice copies in string comparisons. Multicore support now includes core affinity, and the ESP32-S3 joins the RP2040 and RP2350 with dual-core goroutine scheduling. New boards include the Arduino Uno R4, TinyGo's first Renesas-based board. The Bluetooth package adds a Web Bluetooth API backend for browser use via WebAssembly, with HCI/L2CAP/ATT code refactored into a separately tested 'hci' package now at 87 percent test coverage. TinyGo Drivers 0.37 adds ten new drivers written to avoid heap allocations.

## Questions this post answers

### Does TinyGo support running goroutines across multiple cores on the ESP32-S3?

Yes, as of TinyGo 0.44 the ESP32-S3's two Xtensa LX7 cores can both run goroutines using the cores scheduler, including core affinity so you can pin a goroutine to a specific core. The ESP32-S3 also gained USB-OTG device support and flash BlockDevice support in this release.

_Track TinyGo's multicore embedded support as it evolves by following release coverage on daily.dev._

### Can I use Bluetooth from a Go program compiled to WebAssembly in the browser?

Yes, the TinyGo Bluetooth package version 0.17.0 adds a backend using the Web Bluetooth API for the central role, letting the same Go code talk to Bluetooth devices from a web page. Under the hood, HCI, L2CAP, and ATT protocol code was refactored into a separate 'hci' package with no build tags, reaching 87 percent test coverage.

_Developers wiring up browser-based Bluetooth features can follow TinyGo updates like this on daily.dev._

### What new board support did TinyGo add for Renesas processors?

TinyGo 0.44 adds support for the Arduino Uno R4, marking the project's first support for Renesas processors. The release also extends functionality and fixes issues on many other boards, especially the ESP32xx family.

_Embedded developers evaluating new board targets can track TinyGo hardware support changes on daily.dev._
