# TP-Link patches Omada ZTP flaws allowing hackers to breach networks

**[BleepingComputer](https://daily.dev/sources/bleepingcomputer)** · 3 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

TP-Link has patched 15 vulnerabilities in the zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) mechanism of its Omada business networking product line, disclosed at Black Hat USA by Forescout's Vedere Labs. The flaws span hard-coded cryptographic keys, information disclosure, device hijacking, spoofing, client-side code execution, and compromise of encrypted communications. When chained with two previously known command-injection CVEs (CVE-2025-7850 and CVE-2025-7851), attackers can enumerate predictable serial numbers, impersonate devices, exploit race conditions during cloud adoption, steal cleartext credentials and VPN keys, inject JavaScript into admin interfaces, and ultimately gain full network access. Over 1,800 Omada controllers are internet-accessible. Users should update firmware, use strong unique credentials, enable MFA, rotate secrets, and monitor network traffic.

## Questions this post answers

### What vulnerabilities did TP-Link patch in Omada zero-touch provisioning (ZTP)?

TP-Link patched 15 vulnerabilities in the Omada ZTP mechanism, discovered by Forescout's Vedere Labs. They fall into four categories: client-side code execution, information disclosure, device hijacking and spoofing, and compromise of encrypted communications. Eleven received CVE identifiers (CVE-2025-9289 through CVE-2025-9293, CVE-2025-15544, CVE-2025-15627 through CVE-2025-15631); four unnumbered issues involve predictable serial numbers and default credentials.

### How can attackers chain the new Omada flaws with older TP-Link CVEs to compromise a network?

Attackers can enumerate predictable device serial numbers to find MAC addresses of devices awaiting adoption, impersonate a device, exploit a race condition during cloud adoption, and log in with default credentials to expose configuration data including cleartext usernames and unsalted MD5 password hashes. Stolen cloud-controller credentials then let them reconfigure managed devices and exploit CVE-2025-7850 and CVE-2025-7851 for command injection into network equipment.

_Anyone hardening exposed network controllers can track exploit-chain writeups like this on daily.dev._

### How many Omada controllers were found exposed to the internet, and what should administrators do about the ZTP vulnerabilities?

Forescout identified over 1,800 internet-accessible Omada controllers, even though such deployments are not meant to be directly internet-facing. Administrators should update firmware through TP-Link's Omada download portal, use strong unique admin credentials, enable multi-factor authentication, rotate secrets if compromise is suspected, update mobile apps, and monitor traffic for suspicious activity.

_Teams patching exposed network gear can keep up with remediation advice like this via daily.dev._
