TrueNAS SCALE is an open-source network-attached storage solution based on Debian. It supports creating virtual machines and Linux containers. The latest release (22.12.1) includes improvements and new features such as SMB Share Proxy, SSH Key Upload, and Kubernetes Pass-Through. Setting up TrueNAS SCALE requires some initial configuration, but the web UI is well-designed. Nested Virtualization can be enabled for TrueNAS as a virtual machine.
