The reasons cited include Ubuntu LTS going stale too quickly for software updates and dissatisfaction with Canonical's AI roadmap for future Ubuntu releases. Debian Testing will serve as the permanent foundation going forward, with additional plans to adopt Btrfs as the default filesystem.
