Fatih Arslan shares his experience receiving physical typeface specimens for the upcoming Houston Mono™ font by Neil Panchal and U.S. Graphics, the same creator behind Berkeley Mono. The post explains the difference between typefaces and fonts, gives a brief history of typeface specimens from 1882 to today, and describes how the Houston Mono specimens evoke a 1960s/70s engineering aesthetic through their paper, printing process (called SpectraEtch™), and technical layout.
