# TypeScript 7.0, your SFC's templates have to wait

## Summary

TypeScript 7.0's rewrite in Go brings major performance gains but ships without a stable programmatic API, blocking Volar from integrating with the new compiler. This means Vue.js single-file component frameworks cannot use TS 7 for template type-checking in editor tooling, forcing the Vue community to stay on TypeScript 6 and vue-tsc for now. Tools like Oxlint, which natively leverage the TS 7 Go engine for fast type-aware linting, are also unable to process TypeScript inside .vue files until the Volar bridge is established.

## Content

TypeScript 7.0 just dropped with a massive rewrite in Go, bringing mind-blowing speed to the table but leaving single-file component frameworks like Vue.js in a bit of a tight spot. The core issue, as highlighted in Microsoft's update on [embedded languages in TypeScript 7.0](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/announcing-typescript-7-0/%23typescript-and-embedded-languages), is that this initial release lacks a stable programmatic API. This leaves Volar completely locked out, meaning it can't hook into the new compiler to parse and type-check the code hiding inside your HTML templates. It's a frustrating bottleneck, deeply detailed in [Vue language-tools issue #5381](https://github.com/vuejs/language-tools/issues/5381), which effectively forces the Vue community to stick with TypeScript 6 for editor tooling for the time being.

This architectural split directly impacts bleeding-edge tools like **Oxlint**, VoidZero’s ultra-fast Rust linter. Oxlint natively leverages TS 7’s Go engine to pull off blazing-fast type-aware linting and a game-changing experimental `--type-check` mode that leaves traditional `tsc --noEmit` in the dust. Unfortunately, without that Volar-to-TS7 bridge, Oxlint remains completely blind to any TypeScript living inside your `.vue` files. If you're building with Vue, you'll need to exercise a little patience, keep relying on TS 6 and `vue-tsc` for your heavy-duty type-checking, and wait for the ecosystem to iron out these growing pains.

> @baptistecrouzet this is why i always wait a litle before adopting such major releases, i understand the hypes behind it but still stable tooling is more valuable than the latest versions, personally for me.
