Canonical has released Ubuntu 26.10 'Stonking Stingray' Snapshot 1, the first of four planned monthly testing builds ahead of the stable release on October 15, 2026. This snapshot is not an alpha build but rather a tool for engineers to fine-tune automated build processes. There is little user-facing novelty at this stage; updated Debian packages are syncing in. GNOME 51 and potential Ubuntu AI features are expected later in the cycle. The Linux 7.2 kernel is planned for the final release, with Linux 7.1 likely arriving for testers in the coming weeks. Snapshot 2 is due around June 25.
