Canonical has announced a mandatory beta release policy for all Ubuntu flavours, removing the ability to grant exceptions. Previously, flavours that missed the beta milestone could still ship a final release — as happened with Ubuntu Kylin during the 26.04 LTS cycle. Going forward, any flavour that does not submit a beta on schedule will not be considered for an official stable release. The change aims to improve stability by ensuring a wider pool of users tests the same build before final release, and gives flavour developers a clear deadline for bug fixes.
