The UN World Food Programme (WFP) disclosed a cyberattack on its self-registration application for Palestine, which occurred on May 14. Attackers accessed personal data — including names, ID numbers, phone numbers, and location information — belonging to approximately 600,000 Palestinian households in Gaza. The registration platform has been temporarily suspended while security improvements are implemented. WFP warned beneficiaries to be cautious of impersonation attempts and phishing. This is part of a broader pattern of cyberattacks targeting UN agencies, including a 2024 ransomware attack on UNDP and a breach of ICAO's recruitment database.
