Understanding the Cyber Kill Chain

The Cyber Kill Chain framework is a process within contemporary cybersecurity models for the easy identification and prevention of cyber attacks. It describes a series of typical phases of a cyber attack to give defenders the ability to detect and mitigate threats well before they have a chance to result in serious breaches. The stages of the cyber kill chain are: Reconnaissance, Weaponization, Delivery, Exploitation, Installation, Command and Control (C2), and Actions on Objectives (Exfiltration). Implementing defenses against each stage increases an organization's security posture and helps to stay one step ahead of attackers.
