Upcoming Changes to the Nearby Connections API

Google is updating the Nearby Connections API to stop automatically toggling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios on behalf of apps. Starting late 2026, both first-party and third-party apps must manage radio states manually and notify users when required radios are disabled, rather than enabling them programmatically. Developers using this API need to review and update their connection workflows before the change takes effect.
