# Upcoming deprecation of Grok Code Fast 1

## Summary

GitHub is deprecating Grok Code Fast 1 across all Copilot experiences — including Chat, inline edits, ask/agent modes, and code completions — on May 15, 2026. The accelerated timeline is driven by the upstream model provider (xAI) retiring the model. Suggested alternatives are GPT-5 mini or Claude Haiku 4.5. Copilot Enterprise admins may need to enable access to alternative models via their model policies in Copilot settings before the deprecation date.
