Elastic has cut the price of TSDS (time series data stream) metrics on Elastic Observability Serverless by 75%, now charging at 25% of the standard per-GB rate for both ingest and retention. The change accompanies a rebuilt columnar storage engine for metrics that offers up to 2.5x better storage efficiency and up to 30x lower query latency, with native Prometheus ingest and PromQL support added. Illustrative cost comparisons against Datadog show Elastic coming in roughly 67–69% cheaper for typical cloud/VM and Kubernetes workloads, primarily because Elastic bills on data volume rather than per-host plus custom-metric and container overages. On Elastic Cloud Hosted and self-managed deployments, TSDS metrics carry no additional charge at this time.
