A maker upgraded their Shapeoko 4 CNC machine to handle 10+ hour jobs by adding a Raspberry Pi running Carbide Motion software and a new dust collection system. The setup uses an unofficial Raspberry Pi image of Carbide Motion (updated to build 654 on Raspbian Buster legacy repos), a Pi camera for remote monitoring via network desktop, and a BOSCH vacuum paired with a 3D-printed cyclone dust collector. The system has logged 40+ hours of uninterrupted operation with improved air quality and remote job monitoring.
