Owe Martin Andresen, a 49-year-old German national alleged to be the main administrator of Dream Market under the handle 'Speedstepper', has been indicted in the US on 12 counts of money laundering. Dream Market was one of the largest dark web marketplaces, operating from 2013 until 2019 and facilitating the sale of hundreds of kilograms of illegal drugs. Andresen was identified after accessing dormant Dream Market cryptocurrency wallets in 2022 and later using the funds to purchase gold bars shipped to his home in Germany. German authorities recovered approximately $1.7 million in gold bars, $23,000 in cash, and evidence of $1.2 million in additional suspected proceeds. He faces up to 20 years per charge in the US.
