By disconnecting the dryer's electric heater, removing a blower fan, and adding a custom flange to accept solar-heated air, the system dried clothes in an hour using only the electricity needed to spin the drum. A microcontroller monitors incoming air temperature and controls a fan to maintain target temperature. The result is more than a 10x reduction in power consumption.
