# Using Video Glasses As A Camera Viewfinder Is Harder Than It Looks

## Summary

John Dingley built a custom viewfinder solution for his Sony ZV-E10 camera, which lacks a built-in electronic viewfinder, by adapting XREAL video glasses. The main challenge was bridging the camera's micro-HDMI output to the glasses' USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode input, requiring a converter, power bank, and careful cable management. He designed a custom 3D-printed camera cage to hold all components neatly, strain-relieve the fragile micro-HDMI connector, and present a single USB-C connection point — no soldering required. The result is a hands-free viewfinder that works well for low-angle filming in bright sunlight.
