Valve's new Proton 11 update is a retro gamer's dream

Valve has released Proton 11 as a stable update, bringing improved Windows game compatibility to Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and Linux desktops. The update adds playability for retro classics including Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil 2, Dino Crisis, Dino Crisis 2, Breath of Fire IV, and Deadly Premonition. Additional fixes address graphical glitches in Far Cry 4, keyboard issues in Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, and Chrono Trigger windowed mode flickering. The release also restores EA Desktop compatibility broken by a recent EA update, fixes KDE window maximization, and improves TV support. Proton 11 is based on Wine 11.
