GitHub Copilot is being used to help maintain the aging AMD R600 Gallium3D driver in Mesa, covering Radeon HD 2000–6000 series GPUs. Developer Gert Wollny merged 59 commits to Mesa 26.2 refactoring the sfn shader compiler code, with Copilot in auto mode assisting the cleanup. This is notable as the R600 driver covers hardware dating back to 2007 and has very few active maintainers, with the upstream vendor long since having stopped support.
