VS Code 1.131 introduces several new features: improved subagent visibility in the Agents window (showing model, elapsed time, and active tool call), built-in offline dictation using the Nemotron model (no Speech extension required, works in chat, editors, and terminal), and a hybrid Markdown editor for the Agents window. The release also continues rolling out the agent host architecture supporting Copilot, Claude, and Codex harnesses via the Agent Host Protocol. Python environment management is now at 100% rollout with startup performance improvements, and accessibility improvements include better terminal screen reader controls.
