VoidZero, the company behind Vite, Vitest, Rolldown, Oxc, and Vite+, is being acquired by Cloudflare. All VoidZero team members join Cloudflare, but the projects remain MIT-licensed, open source, vendor-agnostic, and community-driven. Cloudflare is committing $1 million to a Vite ecosystem fund for maintainers and contributors. The Cloudflare Vite plugin has already reached ~14M weekly downloads (over 10% of Vite's 129M). Long-term plans include integrating Vite as the foundation of Cloudflare's unified CLI, adding provider-agnostic primitives for full-stack apps and agents, and eventually open-sourcing the Void deployment platform.
