Vulkan Video H.264 and H.265 encode support has been re-enabled for Intel Gen12.5 (Alchemist/Arc A-Series) GPUs on Linux via a Mesa 26.2 merge request. The feature was previously disabled earlier this year due to insufficient testing with the Intel ANV open-source driver. The fix was contributed by Hyunjun Ko of Igalia, tested on an Intel Arc A750. This work also lays the groundwork for future AV1 encode support on the same hardware. Intel's primary focus remains VA-API, with Vulkan Video contributions largely coming from third parties like Red Hat and Igalia.
