Flipkart's quick-commerce service, Minutes, has reached 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers less than two years after launch and plans to expand to 1,500 by end of 2026. Orders have grown 400% year-over-year, with demand shifting beyond groceries into electronics, beauty, and personal care. Amazon is also aggressively expanding its Amazon Now service, now live in 15+ cities with 500+ micro-fulfillment centers and targeting 100 cities. Both companies are seeing strong growth in smaller Indian cities, with Flipkart covering 130+ cities and Amazon noting 70% of new Prime members come from smaller markets. India now has over 5,500 dark stores, with analysts projecting growth to 7,500 by 2030.
