Warner Music Group (WMG) is acquiring Sureel AI, a startup whose patented technology creates 'AI DNA' for songs to trace how AI models use musical elements. The deal aims to help WMG track when its artists' work is used in AI-generated content or for AI model training, covering voice clones, AI avatars, and style replication. Sureel will continue operating as a standalone platform. This acquisition marks WMG's continued pivot toward embracing AI after initially suing music generation startups Suno and Udio, both of which it later settled with and signed licensing deals.
